I was born in Munich, Germany to American parents and spent my childhood in Europe and the United States. I received an MFA in painting from Pratt Institute, NY, NY in 1983 and a BFA in ceramics from Boise State University, Boise Idaho in 1976. I then taught studio art and art history at Auburn University, Montgomery, Alabama, later at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. In 1988 I co-founded Droll Designs, a design company that became nationally renowned for its distinctive hand painted dinnerware and table accessories, as well as rugs, bedding, and paper products. I returned to full time painting in 2006.
